I am so happy that Split Rock Vineyard continues to produce for trout street. Its cool ocean breezes create such an ideal climate for growing Pinot Noir, and the 2008 conveys this once again. The classic blending of clones, from different sections of the vineyard, come together to truly express this beautiful site. I think you will really be pleased as you lift your glass of this beauty.

Winemaker’s Notes

Beautiful nose with a wonderful purity of fruit.  Loads of wildberry, cherry, and blackberry notes come in waves from the glass.  A touch of cola adds a nice spice.  The wine has a smooth entry on the palate and its wonderful acidity gives it a touch of minerality.  The palate is highlighted by excellent fruit concentration which will continue to develop as the wine ages in bottle.  Drink now thru 2014.

2007 trout street wine
Split Rock Vineyard, Sonoma Coast
Pinot Noir

The wine’s main Pinot Noir clone is 667, with the addition of the 114. These grapes were 100% destemmed and we used 100% whole berry. After a gentle pressing, the grapes are barrel aged in 50% neutral and 50% new French oak. The wine aged in these Francoise Frenes medium toast barrels for 10 months.

Winemaker’s Notes

Deep red/purple colors highlight this Sonoma Coast Pinot. A vibrant nose of cherry cola, hints of floral undertones and spice lead from the glass with more red fruit showing as the wine evolves. There is a solid backbone of tannin and acid at the core of this wine, which unfolds over time to show more creaminess and depth on the midpalate as well as a long lingering finish.
